In today’s competitive job market, what you know is essential—but who you know can also play a crucial role. Building connections helps you:

• Uncover Job Opportunities: Many job openings aren’t advertised publicly, and personal connections can often lead you to these “hidden” opportunities.
• Develop Personal and Professional Growth: Having a strong network encourages you to grow by providing mentorship, advice, and diverse perspectives.
• Build Lifelong Friendships: Networking isn’t just about professional gain; it also leads to lasting friendships and a supportive community.

It’s normal to feel nervous or intimidated when trying to build connections, especially if you’re naturally introverted. Start small by attending events with a friend, preparing a few conversation starters, and gradually pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Remember, networking is about forming genuine connections, and everyone you meet was once in your shoes.
